History of Pasir Ris
Pasir Ris 8 Location is a place that has a history dating back to 1844 where its name was spelled “Passier Reis”. It is believed that Pasir Ris is a shortened version of “Passier Reis” which meant “sand’ in Malay. And it is an apt name given the area is surrounded by sandy beaches. One of the earliest development in the area was the building of bungalows for recreation and retreat, owned by the rich and influential.
However, in 1965 things started to change after Singapore’s Independence. In 1971, the People’s Association built holiday flats for the general public and Pasir Ris gained a reputation for being a place for recreation and leisure for the locals.
With Singapore’s growing population, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) decided to go ahead with land reclamation along the coast of Pasir Ris in 1979 with the ultimate goal of setting up a new residential town in the area. The town which Pasir Ris 8 Location presently sits was completed in 1988 and the town’s population has been growing ever since. In addition to the residential new town, Pasir Ris is also home to Downtown East a popular resort with a huge water theme park, Wild Wild Wet.

Over the years, the government has shifted businesses to the western and eastern part of Singapore such as Jurong Lake District and Changi Business Park to ease congestion in the city. Based on the latest Masterplan by URA, there will be further development of regional economic gateways in the eastern, western, and northern parts of Singapore.

This addition will bring together aviation-related businesses in one location under Changi Aviation Park.
Pasir Ris Wafer Fab Park
